Juveniles are known for their brilliant golden coloration and often associate with larger marine animals for protection, while adults become silvery-gold with distinctive dark vertical bars. The species inhabits coastal reefs, lagoons, and offshore waters, feeding on fish, crustaceans, and other marine organisms.
