Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa (1933–1999) ascended as ruler of Bahrain on December 2, 1961, following the death of his father, Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. His nearly four-decade reign was transformative, witnessing Bahrain’s declaration of independence in 1971, rapid economic diversification into banking and trade, major infrastructure projects, and significant political developments across the Arabian Gulf region. Issued in December 1981 by the State of Bahrain (STATE OF BAHRAIN / دولة البحرين), this 15 Fils postage stamp (POSTAGE / 15 FILS / ١٥ فلساً) marks H.H. Shaikh Isa Bin Sulman Al Khalifa - Twentieth Coronation Year (الذكرى العشرون لتولي صاحب السمو الشيخ عيسى بن سلمان آل خليفة مقاليد الحكم). Printed in a striking magenta tone with gold overprinting, the design features a central profile portrait medallion of the Emir flanked by ceremonial drapes and commemorative calligraphy.
