Following its independence, Bahrain issued definitive and thematic postage series celebrating prominent local religious landmarks, highlighting the country's cultural identity and architectural evolution. Issued in the mid-1970s by the State of Bahrain (STATE OF BAHRAIN / دولة البحرين), this 50 Fils postage stamp (POSTAGE / 50 FILS / ٥٠ فلساً) features a modern local mosque structure. The main vignette showcases the clean geometric lines of the main prayer hall with its dark dome alongside twin slender minarets. An inset portrait of Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Emir of Bahrain, is situated in the upper right corner.
