World Health Organization 40th Anniversary (1948-1988) - 50 fils
In 1988, countries around the world commemorated the 40th anniversary of the World Health Organization (WHO), the specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for coordinating international public health efforts. Established on 7 April 1948, the WHO has played a central role in combating infectious diseases, improving vaccination coverage, promoting maternal and child health, and supporting healthcare systems in both developed and developing nations.
The anniversary provided an opportunity for member states, including Bahrain, to recognize four decades of international cooperation in health. By 1988, the WHO had already contributed to major achievements such as the global eradication of smallpox and the expansion of public health programs aimed at improving life expectancy and quality of life around the world.
